Muhurta

Mahurat is a moment or time most suitable or auspicious for a specific  occasion. It is  calculated on the basis of various parameters like the nature of the occasion,  horoscope of the person concerned,  current planetary position,  constellation or Nakshatra, Yoga, Tithi etc.

Muhurat is an auspicious time to commence or accomplish a task. According to astrology, if something begins in an auspicious muhurat, there are no obstacles and everything goes smooth. Prashna Shastra as well as a Janma Kundali are based on Muhurat. Muhurat panchang is divided into five categories which are Tithi, Var, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karan. Auspicious and inauspicious Muhurat are determined on the basis of Muhurat panchang.

Actually, a muhurat is a unit of time in vedic astrology. Its duration is 48 minutes. So there are 30 muhurats of 48 minutes each in a day. Muhurat Jyotish deals with the system to determine specific time periods or muhurats, which will ensure successful and happy accomplishment of particular activities.

Clearly, muhurta is the selection of the best date and time (planetary combinations) for performing any work.
